Rhetorical Analysis:

The purpose of this ad is to get people to purchase the Nikon S60. The ad is intended for people who like cameras with big viewing screen and also like face detection in their cameras. The ad focuses on the camera’s big screen and also shows one person that is visual that has activated the facial detection. There are also six other people in the background that are hidden from plain site but because the camera has such good facial detection the camera catches them.  At the bottom of the ad it says that the camera can have up to 12 facial detections at once.  This ad will prompt anyone that wants a camera with good facial detection to buy the camera.

Design Element Analysis:

This ad uses balance to help sell the product.  The balance is symmetrical which means it is a mirror image. You have an explorer in the center and six tribe men hiding behind him. There are three on each side of the explorer balancing the ad out. The height of each tribesman face location is even balanced on each side. Nikon probably used symmetrical balance because it is the easiest for humans to view and therefore most preferred.
